The OTOPIA Hackathon:
Let's build Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Apple in just 7 days!

Why are we doing this?

The golden Circle:

We want to build an open platform for the internet.

Because the internet should be there for people, not profit. And the power of these services should be at all the people on the planet, not owned by few companies who operate these platforms for profit. There are a lot of open source projects out there, but it seems that no-one really connected it to one open ecosystem to offer all main services seamlessly and good looking. Technology should work - but it should also be sexy and make happy when using. Finally with assistants like Alexa, Google and Siri, these companies know perhaps at some point too much about us - our private data and life should be private - but with the benefit of having all this data in your personal cloud with your personal assistant that you can give a name.

How are we doing this?

When we team up we can change this world quite fast. With 149 programmers, designers, hackers and dreamers we will chase this mission within a 7 day Hackathon! We will connect all major Open Source platforms & services and design a unique user experience.

Also we will build an open assistant that can support your daily life and is saving all personal data to your private cloud.

Let's help Mozilla and Wikipedia, the proudly non-profit champions of the internet, to keep the internet healthy, open and accessible to all.

What are we doing in 7 days?

We will come together in Munich and virtually around the world to build to research, hack, code, design and test the new open platform OTOPIA.

The OTOPIA Hackathon is an international technology festival and a hands-on fusion of technology, design, and science.

For one week, we bring together 149 entrepreneurs, creatives, tech evangelists, corporate innovators, designers, coders, hackers and makers.

We want to show the world after this days,

that it is possible to create free platforms that could change the world.

First services we strive to build are °Search, °Mail, °Maps, °Messenger, °Mobility, °Knowledge, °Friends, °Office, °Store, °Music, °Watch, and a mobile °OS for our SmartGagets.

We want to build fist prototypes for the °Phone, °Pad and the °Notebook.

On Top we want to hack other products and services to add them to OTOPIA.

Kaltenbrunner Str. 1,

Gut Kaltenbrunn, on the north bank of the Tegernsee, has a history documented over many centuries. Michael Käfer reopened Gut Kaltenbrunn in June 2015.

Gut Kaltenbrunn has stood for hearty hospitality and enjoyment in harmony with the products of the region, for credibility and sustainable commitment. It actively promotes awareness of regionalism and tradition and is a place for recreation.

in the entrepreneurship center at the campus of TUM.

The unique location offers a 3,000 sqm workspace and the 1,500 sqm high-tech workshop MakerSpace. So a perfect spot for software and hardware innovation!
